Run for the Light

Run for the Light is a scenic run near coastal dunes and through the maritime forest on Bald Head Island, NC.
Enjoy the sweeping views while running at dusk toward the light of The Old Baldy Lighthouse.
Make your participation in this race an entire day trip your whole family can enjoy by taking part in an afternoon festival celebrating National Lighthouse Day featuring games, crafts, music, bbq, beer and more! The festival will be taking place on the lighthouse grounds, the start and finishing site for The Run for the Light.
All proceeds from The Run for Light go towards the mission of The Old Baldy Foundation.

“Contestants” sit in their beach chair at water’s edge as the tide comes in and the waves take you out, last one sitting upright wins! What to bring? Your own beach chair (standard size. Beach and camping chairs are accepted but only standards regulation size:)) and a donation of your choosing (we will also have venmo available for donating closer to and on the day!) ALL donations will be given directly to the Oak Island & Caswell Beach Turtle programs.

Photographer and Brunswick County resident Ellen Sheehan, whose work is on display in the Museum Art Gallery through mid-September, will share 20 tips and tricks for taking better cell phone photos, including advice on safely photographing wildlife.

Our Scavenger Hunt Series takes place on Wednesdays from June 5th - June 26th and July 10th - August 7th at the Amphitheater at Town Center Park (11 E 2nd St).
Registration is from 10:00 - 10:30 am. Kids will be given a bag and clue sheet to search for prizes around the island. All children must have a responsible party to accompany them. This event is FREE!
