Get ready to cast some spells with our Witch Hat Workshop! Join fellow witches as you create your unique hat using a classic nylon or modern woven knitted style. All supplies are provided, so you can let your creativity run wild. Perfect for ages 12 and up. Grab your brooms and let's get crafting!
Each ticket includes your hat of choice, a donation to the OKI witches ride, and a beer or wine from Solar Brewing or a craft soda for a non-alcoholic option. (Must be 21yrs or older)

Designed for all ages, but specifically geared towards our young patrons, these hands-on activities and crafts focus on combining arts and history, and you get to go home with something you created yourself! Don't be afraid - we have spooky (but friendly) sharks for you decorate!
During the first two hours lights will be dimmed and interactives muted to provide a calmer environment for our patrons with sensitivities. These programs are FREE but donations are accepted and appreciated.

Carolina Blues: Indigo on the Cape Fear

Don’t be blue – we have lots of indigo for you! This subtropical plant was an incredibly important commodity in the Carolinas of the 18th century. In conjunction with the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport, we will be exploring the process used by skilled enslaved African labor to extract this valuable dye from the indigo plants - and delve into the science behind dye production. Visitors will have a chance to view and work an active fermentation vat, and dyeing demonstrations will occur throughout the course of the program. T-shirts will also be available for purchase for visitors to try their hand at resist dyeing.
